It’s amazing how many people cease to think for themselves where celebrities are concerned. If someone is a model, well then, they must be the most naturally beautiful woman the world has yet seen – in the league of Grace Kelly, Elizabeth Taylor et al. That’s because the media tells them so.

That is a good idea David, except that consumers WANT to be duped. They don’t want to hear that skin care can not make them look 20 again….lol

Maybe it would make sense to mandate a small disclaimer on cosmetics/skin care ads – something like “The appearance of this model may not necessarily be attributable to the product advertised”.

Why not? Wouldn’t that cover the company legally, and remind the consumer to be skeptical?

Just about all advertising is misleading. I say if people are stupid enough to believe that is her face, then they get what they deserve!

I actually think airbrushing can make one look worse – it seems to take away a person’s natural vitality or something!

It’s just an extension of how were supposed to believe that models and celebrities just wake up looking gorgeous – and stay that way by drinking copious amounts of water and a so-called healthy diet. As if! A bit like celebrities endorsing anti-wrinkle creams, when it is as clear as mud that they have had “work” done and do so regularly.

Recently, Sarah Murdoch (former model) and the wife of media magnate Rupert Murdoch’s son, Lachlan, posed for one of our most popular magazines, sans airbrushing, so we’re told. Apparently, Mrs Murdoch insisted on this.

The cover shot showed Sarah with all her eye wrinkles in all their glory. It caused such a stir – with people praising Mrs Murdoch as being some kind of saint! How over the top! Whilst I applaud her, it wasn’t that news worthy – well, at least it shouldn’t have been.

Anyway, Sarah must be lucky because her forehead was wrinkle-free on the cover. I guess some people only get lines around their eyes and not on their forehead. She’s 37, btw. I’m not being sarcastic, either …

Have you read about the Faith Hill retouching for the cover of Redbook?

Have you seen Faith Hill? She’s young-looking for her age, thin and gorgeous. But apparently not young, thin and gorgeous enough to grace the cover of a magazine aimed at women who are around her age. What’s the message? If Faith Hill isn’t gorgeous enough for Redbook, where do we stand?

What they did in particular to her already very slim arm just grosses me out.

I don’t have any problems with the fashion industry touching up pictures. It’s fashion, not real life. It’s supposed to be super real. Actually, I find it inspiring. I’ve never understood the mentality of people that blame their personal problems on the fashion industry..

Go UK! If honesty were required in all ads, news and political campaigns, this would be a better world. I loved it when the UK pushed back at a mascara maker about a year ago because the model was wearing false eyelashes.
